Candidates for the 2016 United States presidential race

The race has been fierce. Candidates all over the country have been hosting large campaigns to convince voters why they are the best choice to head the most powerful country in the world. The following is a short review of the candidates running for Presidency in the primary elections in the United States.

Democratic Party

Lawrence Lessig is a professor at Harvard Law School. The focus for this political activist is towards the amount of money spent on campaigns.

Martin O’Malley is the Mayor of Baltimore and was the Governor of Maryland. His speech is always correct and progressive.

Hillary Clinton is the strongest candidate of the Democratic Party, according to the media. Former First Lady, former Secretary of State in the Obama administration, and former Senator from New York, Clinton appears strong in all the polls.

Bernie Sanders is a former Senator from Vermont. He is clearly Hillary Clinton’s closest opposition. He has held more successful campaign events than Clinton in key states.

Republican Party

John Kasich announced his candidacy on July 21 at Ohio State University. He is a strong candidate and holds the advantage of having the strongest fiscal-conservative bona fides of all other candidates.

Ben Carson became famous after a declaring he was against Obamacare during the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast. He is a rather strong candidate who usually places second or third in the polls.

Jim Gilmore was Chair of the Republican National Committee for one year. He was also Governor of Virginia from 1998 to 2002.

Donald Trump, a businessman, real estate developer, and reality TV star who seems to draw more attention because of his controversial remarks than any meaningful message.

Bobby Jindal is the outgoing Governor of Louisiana. He is a conservationist and former Hindu turned Catholic.

Jeb Bush served for two terms as Florida’s Governor from 1999 to 2007. He is treated as Trump’s strongest rival as most of Trump's attacks are against him.

The list of Republicans is completed by Lindsey Graham, George Pataki, Rick Santorum, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina, Rand Paul, Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz.
